DESCRIPTION: With this mod, children will be able to experience pediatric diseases. In fact, Sims will be able to call a pediatrician at home or go to the clinic (rabbithole) to have their little ones diagnosed.

PEDIATRIC ILLNESSES

Randomly, Sims from infant to child age may receive a buff indicating that they are unwell.

With the cheat interaction, you can manually give your Sim a disease (which will be already diagnosed). Shift+click on the Sim and this menu will appear:

PEDIATRICIAN

A Sim (teen or older) will be able to use the “My Pediatrician” app to decide whether to call the pediatrician at home or accompany the sick Sim to get a diagnosis.

AT HOME DIAGNOSIS

In addition to some available social interactions, clicking “Ask to check on” will open the following window where you can choose which child to have examined:

For newborns, however, the process is different: you’ll need to click on the crib and select the pediatrician to have them examined. Your Sim will pick up the little one and show them to the pediatrician.

RABBITHOLE DIAGNOSIS & VACCINATION

From the “My Pediatrician” app, click on “Pediatric Services” –> “Pediatric Clinic” to decide which children to bring for a visit or vaccination.

Note: The rabbithole is not available for newborns.

Vaccination can prevent the following diseases: chickenpox, rubella, HFMD, cold, and even bronchiolitis in infants.

Note: Vaccination must be repeated at each age!

ACQUISITION OF IMMUNITY

While vaccination can temporarily prevent the onset of certain diseases, by “fighting” the disease, your Sim will become immune to it forever.

Note: This principle only applies to chickenpox, rubella, and HFMD.

Note 2: With chickenpox, your Sim will be covered in red spots!

PURCHASE AND USE OF MEDICINES

From the “My Pediatrician” app, click “Pediatric Services” –> “Pharmacy” to purchase medicines and vitamins.

Important: All medicines must remain in the child’s guardian Sim’s inventory! The only exceptions are children’s and toddler vitamins and soothing cream.

To give medicine to infants & toddlers, you must first pick them up; this will allow interactions to appear!

Children can apply soothing cream themselves, and by receiving oats from an adult Sim, they can take an oatmeal bath.

CHILDREN INTERACTIONS

When the pediatrician is at home, children can ask for a lollipop! The lollipop will be available in the child’s inventory and can be eaten!

But that’s not all! They can even pretend to be sick and ask not to go to school! But be careful! The adult Sim might not fall for it… in fact, you only have a 50% chance that the child will be able to tell a believable lie!

If they’re truly sick (with an undiagnosed illness buff), they can ask to stay home for a day, and their request will obviously be granted. However, if the child reports feeling unwell, the adult Sim will suggest a quick trip to the doctor for a diagnosis. You’re free to choose whether or not to go, but be aware that if a highly contagious disease is diagnosed (chickenpox, rubella, HFMD, and rotavirus), the child will automatically be barred from school until they’re well.

Finally, sick children can ask for a pain killer to an adult Sim to relieve their symptoms. (This interaction is only available if there is paracetamol in the adult Sim’s inventory.)

TODDLERS INTERACTIONS

For now, this part is only available if you play with Pandasama’s mod Toddler Creativity Pack (it only requires the base game to work), but I plan to implement the toddlers’ minor injuries without using other mods in the future!

Required mod by Pandasama: Drawing Supply & Crafting Table from Toddler Creativity Pack

That being said… when interacting with these objects, toddlers may inadvertently cut themselves with the paper or scissors—ouch!

Don’t worry… just go to a Sim and tell them they have a boo-boo, and if the Sim has Band-Aids in their inventory, they will put one on the toddler!
